At Calleva Ingredients, we believe the best partnerships start with understanding the problem. Not just selling a product.

Calleva Limited was founded in 1994 by Clive Griffiths, a salesman by trade but a food technologist by training. From day one, Clive’s approach was different. Rather than offering off-the-shelf ingredients, he set out to work alongside customers to solve real technical and process challenges. Developing tailored solutions that worked in practice, not just on paper.

That problem-solving mindset still defines who we are today.

Built on technical curiosity and collaboration

As the business grew, so did our reputation for technical depth, flexibility and straight-talking partnerships. In 2008, Calleva relocated from Hampshire to Somerset, laying the foundations for long-term growth and deeper investment in UK-based capabilities.

This commitment was cemented in 2015 with the completion of a purpose-built facility, designed to support our expanding activities across ingredient distribution, blending, application support and customer collaboration.

From this base, Calleva Ingredients has continued to evolve. Supporting food manufacturers across confectionery, dairy, bakery, meat preparations and emerging functional food categories.

A trusted partner for functional ingredients

A defining part of our journey has been our long-standing partnership with JRS Silvateam Ingredients. For over 15 years, we have worked closely together to support UK and Irish manufacturers with high-performance functional ingredients, including pectin and tara gum.

As the UK and Ireland distributor for JRS Silvateam Ingredients’ plant-based hydrocolloids, we combine world-class ingredient technology with local market knowledge, technical support and application insight. This partnership allows us to help customers optimise texture, stability, mouthfeel and process efficiency — whether they are reformulating, innovating or scaling production.
